St. Valentin's day

St. Valentin's day is know all around the world because it's the day of love, but only a few people know the true history of this day.

The history began in the Roman Empire in the III century, where there was a law that prohibit the soldiers of the army get married, for not get distracted. Valentin was a priest that thought soldiers could have married and work perfectly, so he began to celebrate hidden weddings. He married more than 1000 couples. When Claudio II (the Emperor) know about that, he decided to cut Valentin's head down, just the day of 14th of February of 270, so that's the reason of we celebrate this festivity on 14th.

Referring to the actual Festivity, the first postcard was sent by Esther A. Howland, where it was represented a small boy winged holding a bow, that came from the Roman mitology. He was Cupido, whose name comes from 'Cupiditas (Wish)'. Now a Days, St. Valentin is celebrated all around the world, but in different days, like, for example Egypt, where the festivity is on November 4th. It's estimated that 100Million of postcards are sent every year in all the world
